Oh! linda

Finally some words on this site although not yet on our later adventures. Those are still in the post factory having not received the ‘go ahead’ by the chief director (currently vacant position, salary to be negotiated, fascinating work, no previous experience required, anyone interested send a resume to us).

Do you remember when in Belo Horizonte we discovered the amazing work of the sculptor Francisco Brennand?
Well, following that instant and common inspiration that Hector and I had to visit Brennand’s home town, we went all the way down from Pipa to Recife to meet the fantastic creative cave from which all this special artwork had sprung.

Golfinhos Bay – La Bahia de los Golfinhos

I can’t see anything.
Me neither.  Maybe they come only at a certain time, like the ones in Monkey Mia.
I don’t know, tomorrow we’ll come earlier.

After a swim and a coco verde gelado sitting on the shore and feeling a bit disappointed for not having seen any dolphins in the so-called Bahia dos Golfinhos, we decide to continue to the following beach: Praia do Madeiro.
What a beautiful beach!

Black Pelourinho – Pelourinho negro

After the rain kept us indoor for a week in Porto Seguro, we decided to air out our growing mould moving north towards sunny Salvador of Bahia.

But again the rain was quicker than us and a rainy Salvador welcomed us instead. Thankfully it only stayed with us one day and finally said goodbye for a long while.

We quickly found our way to our friend’s house and short after we were heading to the most interesting suburb of the city: Pelourinho.

Jericoacoara´s tale – La historia de Jericoacoara

Not so long ago, Jericoacoara was a small fishing village in the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean. One day, some gringos showed up in the village. “They probably have gone lost” thought the inhabitants. They were not lost at all; they were looking for the wind. Wind to push the sails of their windsurfing boards. Wind to take them flying over the waves, faster and faster crossing the never-ending beach from beginning to end. With the gringos came along some hippies searching that dreamlike beach, remote and authentic. Relaxed beyond limits, they always stayed longer than planned. Some of them stayed, unable to runaway, and mixed with the natives.
Nowadays, the pretty village has become the “alternative” tourism centre of the Northern Brazil, where the majority of houses have been transformed into a boutique pousada, a restaurant or a shop. Almost all of the fishermen work now fishing tourists offering them a ride in a buggie or a horse over the sand dunes.
It’s what tourism brings.
